THE GUIDE / growing
Printable polytunnel planning worksheets
Four reusable blank worksheets for recording a polytunnel budget, growing diary, bed calendar and seed order.
Print the tables below to fill in by hand, or download the CSV files to edit in a spreadsheet. They contain headings and blank fields, with starter budget categories. They have no formulas and do not calculate totals, dates, shortfalls or packet counts. Add more rows in your own copy as needed.
Budget planner
Copy the rows for each quote and keep its reference and date with them. Record each cost as confirmed, included elsewhere or unknown; note where an inclusion is covered. Keep optional purchases separate from the main total. An unknown amount is unanswered, not zero. See the budget planner guide for the method and an arithmetic example.
| Field | Your entry |
|---|---|
| Quote reference and date | |
| Budget line, amount and currency | |
| Cost state | |
| Where included | |
| Reference or open question |
Growing diary
Make one row per visit or observation. Separate what you saw from what you did. Add measurement units and context, such as the instrument and its location. Use photo references and follow-up notes to connect entries. See the growing diary guide for location labels and record limits.
| Field | Your entry |
|---|---|
| Date and time; location | |
| Crop or variety as labelled | |
| Observation; measurement, unit and context | |
| Action taken | |
| Photo reference and follow-up |
Bed calendar
Use the same space names as your plan. The start date is included; release is the first day no longer reserved. Mark each date separately as confirmed, assumed or unknown, with its basis. Use an unambiguous format such as YYYY-MM-DD. Leave unknown dates unresolved rather than inventing a boundary. See the bed calendar guide for overlap examples.
| Field | Your entry |
|---|---|
| Named space and plan | |
| Start date included; status | |
| Release date excluded; status | |
| Date basis and reference | |
| Open question |
Seed order
Use one row per exact variety. Separate planned positions from your chosen seed target. Record stock and packet count with their basis and exact, approximate or unknown status. Use seed counts for the manual shortfall and packet calculation; these sheets cannot convert weights to counts. Keep unknown inputs unresolved and preserve any approximation in the result. A seed target is your chosen quantity, not a promise of plants. See the seed order guide for boundaries and arithmetic.
| Field | Your entry |
|---|---|
| Crop and exact variety | |
| Planned positions and reference | |
| Chosen seed target and basis | |
| Recorded stock: quantity, status, unit and reference | |
| Shortfall (manual) and stated packet count/status | |
| Packets to order (manual) and open question |
